Located at 200 av. de Cathedral, the SHSB has a genealogical resource centre which is open to the general public. This resource centre promotes genealogical research pertaining to French-Canadian and Metis families of the West. It also ensures publication of genealogical material. The SHSB also offers workshops in genealogical research and it offers fee for service research for persons interested in tracing their French-Canadian and Metis ancestry.
The library at the SHSB contains more than 10,000 volumes dealing with the history of Western Canada.
